Evelyn  Namara


Evelyn is the Project Manager & Researcher for the Alliance for Affordable Internet, which is a global coalition working to drive down the cost of Internet access in low and middle-income countries through policy and regulatory reform. Evelyn is a technology enthusiast passionate about creating ICT4D solutions that impact societies and communities. She’s led multiple tech4dev projects, including founding a fintech startup, Vouch, that works closely to distribute and disburse life-changing goods and services to beneficiaries. Among her past roles, Evelyn managed the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and Community Engagement at the Internet Society working closely with different stakeholders and project teams to deliver value to SIGs. She was the Country Director of Solar Sister in Uganda and was the regional manager, East Africa for Beyonic, among key roles. Evelyn sits on the Board of MTN Mobile Money Uganda Limited as a Non-Executive Independent Director. In her free time, Evelyn loves the outdoors and particularly hiking mountains. She highlights Mt. Kilimanjaro (Rooftop of Africa) and Mt.Rwenzori (The most beautiful African mountain) among her proud summits.

Breakout Session Two E- Government as a Path to Digital Transformation in Uganda

Uganda has had aspirations to bridge the digital divide for over a decade now. However, despite numerous efforts and policies, the majority of Ugandans remain excluded. This session shall specifically address the challenges of implementing policies aimed at increasing digital inclusion.
