Digital Finance, Financial Inclusion, and Market Development Specialist and Executive Leader with 17+ years of experience driving private sector led development across East Africa and South Asia. Currently the Executive Director/CEO at Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSD Uganda) leading strategic planning, stakeholder management and policy advisory for top level government, donor and private sector stakeholders, and building pipeline and executing early stage investments for catalytic startups—all driving the mission of an inclusive financial sector. Before FSD Uganda, I was a digital financial services specialist to two organizations – CGAP, at the World Bank and the Better Than Cash Alliance at the UNCDF. Prior to digital financial services, I founded in India the largest deal flow pipeline platform for early-stage for-profit social enterprises, called “Sankalp Forum” and took it to scale, including facilitating transactions of $45 million USD. The platform today has expanded across South, and East Asia and East Africa.

Panel Discussion: ‘The Payment Sector as a gateway to financial inclusion”

This panel shall discuss how financial technologies can be used as an avenue through which financial inclusion amongst the unbanked population can be achieved. It shall also delve into the laws governing the payment sector and the challenges faced by the players in the payment ecosystem. The panel shall also discuss the future of digital lending in Uganda. This panel shall also feature a session on KYC compliance in the payment sector.
