Leveraging her expertise in IP management, ICT, and computer science, Shirley navigates the complexities of IP in the digital age and is pivotal in fostering a thriving innovation ecosystem in Uganda.

Her unwavering commitment to gender equality and diversity in STEM fields is evident in her active participation in programs like the Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) and the World Learning Alumni Thematic International Exchange Seminar (TIES), where she champions inclusive growth in the IP and tech sector.

One of Shirley’s most significant achievements is leading a nationwide program that empowered over 2000 innovators by equipping them with the knowledge and tools to safeguard their ideas and inventions. She additionally developed a practical IP toolkit that over 5000 innovators and researchers have utilised while navigating the IP landscape. Shirley guides innovators through the IP ownership process, registration procedures, and commercialisation strategies.

With a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property and another in ICT Management, Policy, and Architectural Design, alongside a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Shirley possesses a well-rounded understanding of the intricate interplay between technology, policy, and intellectual property.
