
Atuhaire Collins Benda Atuhaire Collins Benda is an Ugandan technologist, AI Software Engineer, and innovator whose work bridges local context with global impact. He plays a key role at AI Studio Uganda, under the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Secretariat in the Office of the President, where he helped build the Uganda Cultural Content Benchmark (UCCB) — a benchmark to ensure AI models understand Ugandan languages, culture and values. Through this work, he has developed AI systems that are multilingual, culturally aware, offline-capable, and designed specifically for underserved communities. He has led or contributed to projects spanning education, healthcare, agriculture and digital transformation, always with the aim of making AI accessible, equitable, and sovereign. As a speaker, Collins brings together technical rigor, policy insight, and entrepreneurial vision, and is passionate about harnessing AI not just for innovation, but for inclusion and lasting societal value.
