John Ndabarasa

In his current role, John drive inclusive digital innovation across two projects implemented by the International Trade Centre (ITC); the READY-Salone Project in Sierra Leone, funded by the Republic of Korea (KOICA), and the SB4U 2.0 Project in Uganda, funded by the European Union. His mission is to contribute to building resilient digital ecosystems through technology and innovation to strengthen entrepreneurship, enhance market access, and expand business opportunities for youth, women, MSMEs, startups and business support organisations (BSOs). In Uganda, he works closely with national and international private sector actors focusing on developing homegrown e-commerce solutions in online marketplaces, logistics and digital payments to build strategic partnerships and co-create programs that support MSME participation in the sector. He designs and advises on the MSME e-commerce journey, identifying key skills and market access gaps to activate interventions that promote long-term growth in Uganda’s digital trade ecosystem. Since 2019, He has helped tech startups and IT companies in Uganda to raise investments worth USD15M+ thanks to great partnerships built over the years with credible VC funds and angel investor networks globally. In Sierra Leone, he oversees ITC’s work on digital freelancing for young people, delivering targeted capacity building activities and organising community meetups to help freelancers access global online work platforms. He also supports local tech startups through tailored technical assistance, investor and partner linkages and customised training programs developed in partnership with local tech hubs and ITC certified coaches.
